"Fabulous poet who will write a beautiful, bespoke poem for any occasion. If you're looking for an original present then I can't recommend In Your Own Words highly enough."

A female wedding guests laughs delightedly at a speech during the wedding reception.

If I write you a poem, people will believe I’ve known you for years.

I write in honour of any significant event - birthdays, funerals, anniversaries, retirements, weddings, newborns and new starts. I also write for organisations who want a poem to help them inspire, share and stand out.

Poems are completely based on information from you and are thereby entirely unique; I never use templates or rehash old structures.

Most poems are written to be read aloud, and each captures the individual essence, mood and tone of the need or celebration.

I get absolute consistent feedback that these poems add and are magic, and that’s because they say what you want to say, in what feels like your own words.

Lizzie wrote a poem for our wedding this year and we loved working with her! From the first email interaction to the final copy of the poem she was amazing. The process was smooth and I feel like Lizzie asked the perfect questions in her questionnaire/over the phone to get to know us so that the poem was really personal to us as a couple. She nailed the final product first time, and with a tight schedule due to us needing to finalise the readings for the ceremony quickly (thanks Lizzie). Cannot recommend her enough and can’t wait for our guests to hear something that’s bespoke for us.

The poem process

1 / Enquiry

Drop me a message via this page then I'll reply to schedule a chat. In this conversation we’ll establish important details like who your poem is for, your relationship to them and role in the event, and timelines we should stick to. We can do this via email or we can connect remotely.

2 / Questionnaire

I’ll email you with a questionnaire: usually 10-15 questions. They are designed to stimulate your imagination and invite you to tell me exactly what you’d like me to know about your loved one. You should feel free to write as much as you like. Your answers will give me what I need to create your poem.

3 / Finalising

When the first draft is done, I'll email it to you! You'll take your time reading and digesting, then we'll exchange emails (or have a phonecall) to discuss any changes you’d like. After I’ve made them, I will send the final poem back to you et voila - the magic is made.
